Microsoft Office – Please create PDF files for submission.
Microsoft Office Programs – Due to the software’s limitations in handling text, margins, color modes, image resolution, and fonts, all files submitted in any of the Microsoft Office Suite programs may incur extra pre-press charges and will require extra prep time to make the file usable for high quality offset printing.
File Submission
Files may be submitted to Serbin Printing via
CD/DVD
E-mail to epic@serbinprinting.com (less than 5MB)
Serbin ftp site (5MB or Larger)
DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR ONLY COPY OF ANY FILE.
Native files must be submitted for projects using variable data
Submitting PDF Files
Print quality PDF files are the quickest and easiest way to submit files. By submitting PDF files, the job is able to move directly to the ripping stage of our workflow. However, our ability to edit these files is limited.
Include bleed
Be sure marks are outside bleed area
No color bars
Submit files in a single page format.
Do not submit file in reader spreads or printer spreads. A single file that includes multiple pages is fine.
When submitting PDF for our Digital Press DO NOT INCLUDE MARKS OR COLORBARS.
Submitting native Files (InDesign, Quark, etc.)
Include all supporting graphics and images.
Include all fonts (compress fonts if sending over internet)
Outline fonts used in artwork and logos.
Include a hardcopy of job.
If unable to provide a hardcopy, you may include a low res PDF.
*Please indicate if the PDF is for viewing only.
Bleeds & Margins
Projects that bleed will require an 1/8??? bleed added to artwork.
Do not enlarge the document size when creating bleed in the layout application,
Create layout document at trim size and open your bleed 1/8″ outside the trim.
However, if the layout has been built in Illustrator (which we strongly discourage), the document size will have to include bleed.
We require an 1/8″ minimum type and logo margin from trim on business card orders.
We recommend 3/8″ minimum type and logo margin from trim on most other projects.
Scanned Images
Scan images at 300 dpi at the size it is being used.
Scan line work at 600 dpi at the size it is being used and save as a bitmap tif.
